Excerpt from a letter from a Dutch National Socialist .................... Abs wir friday morning awoke at 4 o'clock, we heard a terrible engine cry. When we came out of bed, we saw a large number of German planes flying very low. We then quickly got dressed and went on the road. Then we saw Dutch soldiers without guns and only half dressed. We immediately provided our youth home for the Red Cross. When we came out again, the bullets of our own soldiers flew around our ears. When another plane flew over the roofs, we looked for cover under the trees. At 11 o'clock in the morning, my father and I were already taken and detained by the police. We were not allowed to talk. When we came into the room, I saw HH., who was already imprisoned. In the evening at 6 o' clock, we were loaded into a cattle car and we didn't know where we were taken. On the way we were shot at our car and sometimes we had to stop to be searched by Dutch soldiers. We then came after this trip into a movie where we were led in between soldiers. When we came in, there was a boy of 15 years, who had to watch us with loaded guns. During the whole night, camera and Reich Germans were brought in. In the morning, straw was brought and we were able to build a bed, women and children all confused. There were even women with children of three weeks. Police with loaded revolvers. We did not eat at all in the first three days; only water we could drink. On Sunday, a piece of barbed wire was lined outside, and we were allowed to go out to fifty.
