Bleibtreustr. 27 General of the Imperial Russian Army Telephone: 91 11 86 Head of the Russian Trust Office in Germany State Secretary Frank Pr_aE Mr. Secretary of State, I would like to address to you the translation of an application addressed to me by Prof. A.N. Fateyev, Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian History Archive in Prague. On my part, on the basis of the arguments put forward, I can fully support this request. It is a matter of the fact that on Vunsch the German authorities are to be given part of the archive collection, namely the military ma terial, which is to be withdrawn from the Arehiv and handed over to the army archive, or its Prague department. As can be seen from the attached document, such a detachment of a part of the book and document stock will significantly reduce the value of the individual pieces, since the collection of archives is particularly valuable, especially as a whole, by the association of the pre-existing ones. It is perfectly understandable that the German authorities are currently particularly interested in the collection of archives, but it is quite possible to find a solution which would meet the wishes of the German agencies without reducing the value of the collection by dividing the natural stock. I would therefore suggest one of the two possibilities: 1) a German Commissioner can be employed for the Russian History Archive or 2) the collection of archives as a whole
