English Translation
(See letter to Bachmann dated 6.l2.1941 and his reply dated 5.1.1942.) It follows from the foregoing that the whole of my affair has been dealt with with with Bachmann with the greatest benevolence. I was therefore surprised myself when I was occasionally approached by third parties on this matter and that it has become known at all beyond the circle of the parties involved. The latter may in part be based on narrations by employees of the institutes involved in the distribution of books, but is partly also due to the fact that the interested party has intervened in various services for Bachmann. Unfortunately, a previous contact with me did not take place would have revealed that these well-meaning interventions were superfluous. In order to correct the allegations made in connection with the distribution of books against the lecturer Bachmann, I have caused the Faculty to announce the clarification of this matter as set out above, stating that afterwards, no accusations can be made against Bachmann. Moreover, I will take care of the whole matter with the same benevolence for Bachmann as before.
