After the accident, the management started the investigation with the two car drivers and the personnel involved, using also the data of the police protocol and the testimony. The management did not want to prejudge the expected court proceedings, but it was nevertheless necessary, to the extent that the circumstances allowed it, to determine whether the two car drivers did not manifestly violate the existing rules and regulations. It was immediately established that 1/ in the powder tower bridge section concerned the maximum speed of 28 km/h for both directions. 2/ that the trench road in the above-mentioned section is, according to the announcement of the police department of 24.III.1939 GZ.86l9 and according to Reg.Vdg.No. 242 of the year l939, the main road, whereas Bergmannsgasse is a side street, now equipped with negative signs. In addition, the driver of line 3, Josef Trněný, D.Nr.3423, the Pankratz car hall, was subjected to interrogation. He stated that he was slowly driving behind the trains in front of him and when approaching to the mouth of the miner's street he had enlarged the car space between his own car and the 19-car by reducing the speed. There are no contradictions about this circumstance as a whole. Furthermore, the driver explained that he noticed on the side of the powder tower at a distance of about 7 m from the edge of the pavement frame a Wehrmacht-Krad in Bergmannsgasse, which pushed his train in-between and in the direction of the Powder Tower because of the slow drive. The overlay occurred in the newly formed space between the rear platform of the hanger of line 19 and the front platform of line 3 of the railcar. Although the space between them is shown by testimonies, it is not possible to accurately indicate the distance with regard to the movement of all vehicles on the side.
