Georp Drvi's 47 The interned students. Of the students arrested in November 1939, a certain number are still in the concentration camps, mainly in Oranieburg. The exact number is not known. According to the data from the parents, these are about 1 2o students. In view of the original size of the student arrests, this figure represents only a smaller group. However, their situation deserves special attention, one with regard to the prisoners of protection and their parents on the other hand, in the light of the overall development of this situation. In the course of the years 1940 and 1994l only individual groups of these students were dismissed in long periods, although the assessment of the matter at the competent authorities had the prospect of an early resolution. In January 1942, the daily press made public promises that the arrested students would be released, with the exception of the leaders of the Rädels or communist victims, and therefore received with satisfaction and gratitude by the parents of the students and the public. In his meeting with the Presidents of the Republic on 1 9 March, the Deputy Reichs Protector confirmed that his decision on the dismissal of the students would be carried out.
