English Translation
The lack of self-awareness of many scattered Germans and their sometimes weak belief in the future shows the great tasks that still have to be accomplished in educational terms in the scattered Germans. In this respect, a planned youth work and, above all, the schools in the scattered German territory have a special national political significance. The determined elimination of German schools in the former Czechoslovakia had just hit the scattered German regions of OLB Olmütz very much; at the establishment of the Protectorate there were only two German Velks schools, one in Moravian-Weißkirchen and one in Lithuania. New greening over the last two years has brought a positive upturn. At present there are elementary schools for scattered German children in Prerau, Kremsier, Moravian-Weißkirchen, Proßnitz, Littau, Leipnik, Braunölhütten, Kojetein, Konitz, Stefanau and Loschitz as well as a German civic school in Proßnick and Mährisch-Weisskirchen, where the German forest school, which was confiscated after World War II, could also be reopened in Septem-ber 194o. In schools, there is a considerable lack of suitable teachers, some of whom had to be employed by teachers who, as a result of their earlier retirement or marriage, did not pursue their profession for several years and who are now unable to cope with the demands of the Velkstumskampf, especially in scattered German areas, because of their age. However, as long as the language question still poses an open problem, the language relations in the scattered German regions of Olomouc are still very different.
