- S - The wealthiest group of the scattered Germans, who, despite the Czech hostility, were able to keep influential economic positions and their acquis up to date, are business leaders, directors and senior engineers in economic enterprises; with few exceptions, precisely these circles during the Czech period have denied their Germanism in a dishonest and unworthy form, but today their adaptability and influential position are able to regain particular validity in local Germanism, sometimes also to influence in official German positions. Since the establishment of the Protectorate, almost all professions have improved the conditions of the scattered Germans, but they are still very depressed by the workers: this is particularly true of textile and railway workers. A favourable exception is only the workers employed by the Wehrmacht. The transfer of various Wehrmacht parts to cities in the scattered German territories such as Kremsier, Prerau, Proßnitz and Moravian-WeiBkirchen also has a favourable economic impact on Germanism. This was particularly welcomed by the tradesmen, who were dependent on the insufficient support of German residents. Not infrequently, Germans still turn to Czech traders, where they hope for a better supply. In Leipnik, too, the wish for transfer of units of the German Wehrmacht or Pelizei to the two empty barracks of Leip- nik has recently been voiced, which would mean a strong boost, especially for the German business people.
