I receive your letter today and I have to tell you a lot about it. I have returned from my France mission (almost no longer healthy and alive because of fired trains and blown-up routes). First of all, I am surprised that you have turned to competent places, since I have already told you that for two years I have been constantly reading this story in all major German cities, in front of the public, before H.J., before the Wehrmacht, before officers in occupied territories and abroad, with enthusiastic reception both among the public and with demanding criticism and press (sufficient criticisms available). The Völkische Beobachter and the attack have printed whole chapters of Katrin, Reichssende such as Berlin, Deutschlandsender and now even RS Wien have sent the stories, and they are also in the V.B. excellently discussed, i.e. a clear sign of this and factual proof, that one does not share the main concerns communicated to you in relevant places and thus, apart from the fact that Katrin has simply already become established and known, these are out of place. The "Katrin" was written a few years ago, from a very simple, self-evident creative process, which has nothing to do with useful things or questions about "necessarily possible things, which the success has long since proved.Significant personalities in German literature, niCht only the press, have recognized Katrin as pure poetry and small Metsterwerk, so I only call the names /Dr. Hanns Martin Elster, Professor H.Sohnrey, who already issued this judgment six years ago, Carola Ihlenburg and many others more, not least - which is again important in terms of the world view - Wilhelm Brückner as personal adjutant of the leader, who now wants to stand up for the Katrin again - I was lucky enough to speak to him even now. Art, poetry, music, painting, all these things are supposed to rise above everyday life and therefore have priority over time.
