English Translation
I do not misunderstand the war-related difficulties, but I would still be very grateful to you for your ministry's support for such development. In the present case in Brno, as far as I was aware, the responsible management of the Nazi Party and the district administration agreed to the hiring of Czech auxiliary staff. Furthermore, the participating Kapellmeisters take the view that equally valuable German musicians are not available. In the interests of the politically necessary high level of the German cultural events in the Protectorate, I have no doubt that this information will be found correct in the course of verification, that the Czech assistants in orchestras, choirs and ballets of the Stadttheater in Brno can be approved. However, this requires a local leadership which does not allow the Czech staff to emerge externally, and also ensures that the Germans involved maintain the necessary distance from the Czechs. I intend to deal with all these questions in the near future by way of a general decree, but I would ask you to do so at the time of transmission of your opinion. III. Reference _: without the chairman of the Brno City Theatre Orchestra, Gustav K 1 i e r , on 16 January 1942 addressed himself in a letter to the Minister of the Reich Dr. Goebbels to protest against the intention of Czech auxiliary musicians to join the Brno Theatre Orchestra. In the same matter, the president of the Fachschaft Bühne des StadttheatersBrünn, Dr. Schlottmann, turned to the head of the Reichstheaterkammer in Prague.
