The "Day of the Forest Run". On Sunday, April 4th, the "day of the forest run" took place in Brno.The organiser was the NSRL, which in cooperation with the party and its divisions had set a record number of runners. The race on the Steinberg started at lo clock with a simple morning party.After the flag-histening and notification of the approximately l200 competitors to the circuit guide Dipl.Ing. R. Molak speaks to us:Not only in Brno, but in the whole eastern part of the country, the runners took part in the forest run, which this time is not an ordinary forest run.The physical exercises have to be carried out simply and in a warlike manner.Every citizen has the duty to keep himself operational, healthy and strong, because only in this way can the leader be able to put the advanced victory into our hands. Depending on the age groups there were 5 different routes and groups. First the Hitler youth runs, then the "Old Guard", d i e is with great enthusiasm. We still have a long time and shorten our waiting with a small relaxation run, then jokes are told, löddelt, our sports guard and the experts give good advice. Slowly but surely, a small nervousness comes into the people, especially in those who are fighting a competition for the first time. At last it's time; our group's turn.First there are some SA storms, then we get to it.Quickly flowers and shrubs are poured, then the training suits go down and to the start.With us 4l "blacks" there are still l0 men from the air force.The starter gives us the best time of the many races: 7.58 minutes. Launch! Like the wild animals, the men shoot at it, which of course is too fast for me and therefore stays a little bit behind.After 200 m, easy uphill, I entered, and since the top group has slowed down the pace considerably, I go to the top and I manage to get started from the field.I am now sharpening my pace and in long steps I continue to speed.On the road, from where it is 700 m to the finish/ the whole track is 2i0Om/ I have around loo m advantage, which I can hold to the finishing line. My time is 6.44 minutes, new day best time,but the group victory is not yet,because the favorites Krolop and Weiss, only run after us.After the race you are congratulated and celebrated, by our picturekeeper from the front and the back snaps; however, you survive too. Meanwhile, the runners who started after us arrived and the time of the : winner is 6.45 min., so by l second slower than I,with which I now become a certain group winner,if not yet a huge surprise comes.It did not come.
