The positive result can now be reported that, in addition to 33 1/3 % savings in electrical energy, a further 6.2 % has been saved, so that the establishment of a special Savings Commissioner seems fully justified. In the autumn months, the financial administration was largely concerned with the preparatory work for the establishment of the new budget plan, with particular difficulties resulting in uncertainty, such as the corporation tax, which had not yet been announced at the time, which could also affect the municipal finances very substantially. In general, it must be noted that a number of tax sources have been lost during the year 1943 of the municipality, for which compensation in the new budget has not been easy to find. The municipal chamberlain occasionally pointed out, in early January, with great emphasis, to all the moments which, despite the fact that monetary fluids have caused a substantial deterioration in the municipal finances and which require the most economical economic management for the future, if the absolutely necessary reserve formation and the internal debt arising from prevented investments are to be mastered accordingly. Not insignificant difficulties were encountered during the last quarter of the year the municipal utilities. They are mainly caused by the abnormally mild winter weather because of the low rainfall caused many disturbances. The situation of the waterworks still has to be described as highly strung, without being predicted, as the conditions in the coming months can be arranged in the absence of sufficient winter moisture and snow cover. All arrangements are made to be able to successfully cope with a possible second year of drought on the part of the waterworks. Above all, the further use of infiltrated river water is seriously considered for the supply of drinking water.
