46a - 4 - Our weak protests in the following period were consistently rejected. What good was it if we were a hundred times in the right but could not enforce this right?! Germany, which was lying on the ground under the consequences of the Versailles dictatorship and was fragmented into many parties, could not help either. Thus, the Sudeten-Germanism was at the mercy and mercy of megalomaniac politicians who, behind sounding phrases of "equal rights", "Humatity" and "democracy", felt all their brutal power. Their undeniable goal was: to create a Czech nation-state and the police methods included in it corresponded to this goal. Every failure against the Czech national state idea was put out by the Czechs as high treason and stamped it as a "provocacy", a provocation. Of course, one did not forget to offer the Germans a carrot once and to distract them from their true visions by means of democratic promises and beautiful sayings. The fact that 3¢ million culturally higher-ranking people, depriving them of their simplest rights of life, cannot be fed in the long term either by promises or by violence to a state, has certainly been suspected by discerning Czechs. It has also caused them a lot of headaches, as they should cope with these "němci" Germans. They did not want to assign the closed German settlement area to the Reich at any price, nor did they want to give the Sudeten Germans their autonomy, so they only knew an open way out: ruthless concealment and application of brutal violence! The first blow, which was made economically against the Sudeten Germanism, was the large-scale robbery of German land, called "Chechoslovak soil reform". 52o.ooo ha Sodens robbed the Czechs of Germanism! On this stolen German soil Czech "bordermen" were settled, who mostly came from the ranks of the legionaries, who, although much understood by the robbery, all the less understood by it. Over 2oo.ooo a Czech Prime Minister already spoke to the words: They will never again be enslaved.
