But the decisive factor for the creation of this state was ultimately the desire of the Allies to counter the German urge for the East with a highly equipped insurmountable bloc, which should be able to hold Germany down in the East. Even the great "world democrat" Masaryk did not hesitate to claim in his first state-law declaration that the Germans were called into the country by the Przemyslid kings as "colonists". It was therefore only cheap for the Germans, according to Czech opinion, that they behaved favourably towards their guests as guests. By no means could they, as tolerated colonists, demand the same rights as the indigenous Czech population!
