The food is generally praised especially with regard to quality. In some cases only workers from rural areas complain about too little food. However, in the case of camp control it is repeatedly established that bread is sufficient and often even lying around in the camps. The work ethic can generally be described as satisfactory. Where there have been isolated indiscipline, these could usually be switched off very quickly. The reason for such undisciplinations is very often to be found in the inadequacy of the behaviour of the political leaders at the construction site. In Wallachian-Meserich, for example, in the previous week about 1 200 workers have already flooded back from the construction sites in the midday hours without permission. The investigation has shown that in the neighbouring section the political leaders of the party had reintroduced piecework against all agreements and, after fulfilling the prescribed daily work, released their workers prematurely. Consequently, the workers in the adjacent section also approached the political directors with a request for dismissal. They responded to the request - neither with a clear "yes" nor with a "no". The workers then went home. For the behaviour of the workers, the Czech local administrator had only the explanation that the lack of work discipline was solely due to the behavior of the political leaders, who were far too vague and soft and had established such a one-sided comradely relationship with the workers that 63011
