/2 The course should begin in early July l.J. I also decided to move with my family to Prague in the autumn of 194l in order to be able to lead a proper family life again. Now I suddenly got the understanding about my preparation for a special assignment on 25.6. l94l by Mr. Oberlandrat Frh.von Watter. ( Russia was mentioned.) Of course, I was very surprised by this preparation, all the more so since the course was about to take place. At any rate, it is likely that I will not be able to return from this operation under 2 years, so that I cannot attend a course and therefore will not come to an examination. This will bring me back by 2 or more years. I expressed these concerns both to the staff officer at the office of the Lord's Superior Councillor, Mr. Graf, and to the personnel officer at Mr. Reichsprotector, Mr Reg. Amtmann Dröge. While Mr. Amtmann Dröge told me during an earlier audition that it was impossible to be promoted to a government inspector without the 2nd administrative examination, he suddenly spoke of the fact that this operation could be my luck and that I could perhaps also become an inspector without an examination. However, he could not tell me something positive. Since it was said that the withdrawal of the special assignment can already be expected in 3 days, I took leave immediately. When I then spoke to Mr Dröge again on 18 July to find out more, he told me that the first group was already on the road and that I would not be present until the second group, whereby he made a decision until the end of July of the year. This is how I have been living in uncertainty for weeks now. However, I have no longer expected and rather expected that I will soon attend the above-mentioned course. Now, in fact, a few days ago, the training session at the administration school in Sonnenstein near Pirna began and I had to learn to my greatest regret that I was not among the participants. 3
