9/1.6 - In the Protectorate 75 professional theatres play beside 26l3 lovers theatres. In Prague 358 serious concerts took place in 1943, i.e. on average ctwa one concert per day, In the same year there were 687 Czech literary events in Prague. In total in Bohemia and Moravia 203 Czech art exhibitions were held, of which l60 in Prague . In Czech writing in the year l943 new works appeared in about 9 million copies. We have our own Czech Sande stations in Prague, Brno and Märisch-Cstrau, which bring from 6 a.m. to 24 o'clock a purely Czech program with very small interruptions for the German intelligence service. The number of radio listeners has grown by almost 40% in the years 1 939 to 1944, from 758,000 on 1 January 1939 to 1,030,000 on 1st January 1944. With regard to Czech film, we can see that the quality of Czech film has improved in terms of the number of films, because Czech film is now also more economically well-founded. Sales have increased, and the state is giving more generous subsidies to the precious film than it used to be. The fragmented, formerly about a dozen Czech production companies were brought together in the two most powerful film manufacturers, and the conditions for forgiveness for the studios were particularly favourable financially, because the Reich still provides raw film material in sufficient quantities to the Czech film, which works among today's difficult relationships, so that it is possible to circulate Czech films in the Protectorate with an average of ten to twelve copies, while the German film loan itself circulates its films with only four copies on average in the protectorate. In addition, the narrow film of the Ministry of People's Enlightenment is used to the greatest extent. It is similar with the editions of the Czech press. I already described the facts. On weekdays we have a circulation of l.350,000 copies and on Sundays ven l.600.Oo0 copies. These conditions would be far higher if there were not the paper restrictions. In addition to this care in the Protectorate, the care of the Czech workers in the rest of the Reich area stands.
