16 Ab s c h r i f t. The child Peter P r e i d e 1 was transferred to my department on September 7, 1943. The baby received carrot soup, mucus and breast milk and was now carefully built up with Eledon with a milk socket of 30 g. An abcess on the left thigh healed rapidly after Incision. Since the child did not gain weight in the above-mentioned diet and the initially good chairs deteriorated again, the child was transferred to protein milk after a previous meeting at the chief vista. On September 23 the child received 500 AE diphtheria hammelserum i.m. due to diphthria contacts at the department. and was transferred to the isolation department with the two other incubants. I spoke to the child's parents twice, as far as I remember. or 20.9.43, whereby I informed the mother of the change of the child to egg white milk and explained to her that the child had to stay at the hospital for about 3-4 weeks, since the production of protein milk is very difficult and can hardly be produced in the household, the second discussion with the parents took place only after the transfer of the baby on 23 or 24.9. The parents came to me excitedly and asked if it was true that the child had diphtheria. I then calmed them down and explained to them that the child had only been in contact with diphtheria, as a result of the outbreak of a diphthrenia from outside the department, that the baby had already received protection serum and had been transferred to the isolation department with the other incubants in order to prevent further spread of the disease. Therefore, since I no longer had the child in my own department, I referred the parents to Dr. Tiemann, the former ward physician, for further information: Dr. B a i e r e h.
