106 -2- that yesterday's arrest action against Sokol officials caused a great deal of excitement and depression. Some of the Czechs suspect the Sokol to be involved in the illegal resistance movement and a connection between the arrest action and the shooting of Sokol functionary Pechlat. The judgements of the courts and the conviction of Elias are still presented by the vast majority of Czechs, but above all by the intelligence circles as terrorist measures and discussed with the greatest bitterness. In the OLB Kladno, many Czechs say that Elias and Klapka should have avoided accusing each other of the Germans and also incriminating other Czechs. In OLB Jitschin, many of the Czechs believe that the leader Elias will still be pardoned. Agreeing statements are still no longer necessary to the court rulings against - 3 -
