H e l b i g - N e u p a u e r studied law and state sciences at the German Charles University of Prague. During his studies he was active in the Catholic Student Union (c.v.) "Vandalia". In the post-war years he worked as an auscultant at a court and in the year l926 entered the service of the Association of German Landowners, where he later reached the position of syndicus. Politically, he belonged to the German Christian Social Party, for which he was also in 1927 in the Prague Geneindevertretung kandidier. in the year l93l he participated in a conference of the Old Lord Associations of the CV held in Würzburg and was elected there as a committee member according to the "German Press". In Prague he was also a member of the association "Educational and Wandering League Staffelstein". In September l938 H.-N. was in contact with the Jewish lawyer Erwin Lö w e n f e l d, according to the Czech police. About L. The Czech police have the following information: Löwenfeld is a member of the left wing of the German Social Democratic Party and was on the list of the rich German emigrants. He came to Prague in Sept. 1 938, got off at the hotel "Esplanade" and joined with various members of the SdP, among others with Ernst K u n d t, Dr. N e u w i r t h, Dr P'e t e r s, Ing. K a r m a s i n, further with the French deportee René B r u n e t in connection. Löwenfeld is said to have moved daily in the "succulent agrarian bank. On 23.9.1938 he left Prague in a rental car to return to Berlin via Bodenbech. L. was given notice by the Czech police for suspected post-office activity in favour of the empire.
