t9 The Imperial Protector in Bohemia and Moravia I 1 a - 545 Copy To the Prime Minister Wy in P_r a g .a.d. /174.40. Subject: Use of languages in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Mähren In the interpretation of the government decisions of 25 July 1939 and 14 July 1939. In principle, it can be assumed that the decisions of the government issued with my consent by the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in respect of the use of languages in the Protectorates Böhmen and Moravia are of the legal importance to supplement the order of the Commander-in-Chief of the army concerning the official speeches in the protectorates Böhmen and Moravia on 2 March 1939 (Verordnungsblatt für Böhmer und Mähren S. ll) is allowed to use the official language of Ceutechen at any time, be it alone or in the Czech language. The use of the Czech languages has been further regulated by the government decisions. These may therefore not be interpreted restrictively in accordance with their basic situation. I would further like to make it clear that, in accordance with paragraph 7 of the Government Decision of 25 July l939, the administrative orders (stampiglia) of the municipalities, since they are bodies of the Protectorate, are made in both languages. In order to eliminate the misunderstandings which have occurred, I ask you to issue the enacting decrees and to communicate the orders given by 2o April 1994 to the mix.
