It is not sufficient, however, since for the coal mines it is necessary at least to require storage in the amount of demand for two to three months in order to deal with all situations. In terms of the supply situation of the farms bordering the Olsa area, the holdings of Ostrava can be described as very satisfactory. In spite of all the difficulties involved in the procurement of beeches for aircraft plates, which is almost exclusively procured by means of import, the proposed delivery programmes could be met with 80%, taking into account the fact that the existing machinery of the plants in question had to be supplemented or completely converted. In conclusion, the questions of labour input and removal are starting to influence the supply of wood to the Protectorate. Special clearance of trade, including the trade in timber, is beginning to be inhibited, although once the order has been made known to the local department, nothing has been omitted in order to introduce a certain degree of protection, at least for the most important timber trade. It is essential that the sectors of the fibre and pit wood trade and tank wood and its processing be completely or at least largely protected against any worker withdrawal if serious supply delays with this important Roshtoff are to be avoided. Similarly, it is necessary to protect to a certain extent the timber trade, since it depends primarily on the storage (important for the rapid elimination of possible air damage) and the supply for military enterprises. For the same reasons, it must be pointed out that, above all, complaints arise from the areas of Brno, Pilsen and Ostrava, where there is a shortage of workers in order to load the raw timber onto the wagons to be provided.
