In addition, their exceptional importance for the education and training of the skilled worker, who is important for the war, in all branches of the economy. This type of school is still often burdened by the legacy of the former education school from which it emerged and from which the school has to be transformed into a true new vocational school, as well as by the neglect on the part of the previous regime that has not yet begun to catch up. As a result of the increasing influence of the young people's management / employment offices !/ and partly also of school policy itself, which reduces the influx to the secondary schools by intensified selection and admission measures, and finally also due to the expansion of the vocational school, which had already begun in the previous year, to three school years / corresponding to the apprenticeship period/, the class and pupils' numbers are growing rapidly.According to the latest, just completed survey on March 1, 1944, the vocational schools in Bohemia-Mornia show a level of 362 pupils with 6,962 classes and 162,131 pupils. Of these, 39 are German schools with 269 classes and 5,457 pupils, 'the rest are Czech schools. The rapid growth becomes visible when compared with the situation in the last two years: 1 March 1942 : 1182/47/Sehulen, 5.643/224/classes, . 135.441/4186/ pupils, 1 March 1943 : 1219/59/schools, 6,201/256/classes. .. 139.952/5328/students. The figures given in brackets indicate the proportion of pupils. The striking drop in the number of schools, even compared with the year 1943, despite the considerable increase in class and pupil numbers, requires an explanation. This is due to the merger and closure of the numerous smallest schools, carried out by the school administration in the last year, for the purpose of forming larger, specialized and expandable visions under uniform guidance. The reasons and advantages of this tighter concentration arise.
