The pig population is estimated at 1.55 million after the reference date of 3 March of the year. As a result of the seasonal slaughters, the pig population fell by about 40o o00 compared with the same period of the previous year, and the structure of the pig stock also shows that with a re-increase until autumn the year before. It is to be expected that, for special reasons, the biological structure will not be disturbed by intervention. Thus, in Bohemia and Moravia, despite the shortage of fodder (potato crop), the pig population has been kept at a considerable level. According to the present sub-results of the statistics on vegetable cultivation projects in 1944, it is not likely that the expected area of vegetable cultivation will be necessary for the adequate supply of crops and Moravia.
