-6- 16 for police and gendarmerie officers, the Reichsführer 4- personally has already granted deadlines until the end of the year 194l. An even temporary and helpful use of organs of the Czech gendarme when carrying out the bold border control would therefore certainly be seen by this side as a relief. On the other hand, it seems to me that a temporary use of protectorate bodies under German leadership, especially when the implementation of border controls is transferred to the protectorate area, seems to be inextricably and politically feasible. The latter is recommended in the interests of unity of light, easier monitoring and accommodation of border posts, and the involvement of officials of the Protectorate administration will also facilitate language skills. Prerequisites for such a use of Czech civil servants would be the complete control of the German language in word and writing as well as the racial and political freedom of objection of the individual civil servants. Since many organs of the Czech border guards had already worked in the border service for many years, a binding number would probably correspond to the required conditions. A) The border post is a German department, B) it is subordinated to the Imperial Protector in Bohemia and Moravia (Section 1 of the Construction Ordinance of the l.Sept.l939 RGBL.I.S. 1681) C) Head of post are exclusively German officials ( 1 - 2 ) who, as required, are auxiliary bodies of the Protectorate ./.
