The increase of German influence in the Protectorate Post The direct supervision which the Reich is entitled to under the Führer- erschein über die Post- und Telemunikationwesen des Protektorats, cannot, in a mere monitoring of the decrees and orders of the Order of the God, be an increase of the German influence on the service places of the Protectorates Post. In 1939, with a staff of 36 000 protectorate post staff who were only 22l Germans and who were also employed in subordinate positions, it had to be the task of the Post Group of the Reich Protector, entrusted with the supervision of the protectorate's post, to direct German blood in every way possible to the protectorates' post. Whereas in the first two years after the establishment of the Protectorate, the status of German protectorate post staff could be increased by more than double (242) to 463, the number in the last year increased by 6l9 to 1 082. How this has been achieved and which other measures have been taken to promote the German influence at the Protectorate Post will be shown in the following. I. Recruitment In the period from 1.4.4l to 31.3.42, a further 503 German applicants were recruited as post assistants and post messengers.
