61 B 4 - PA. 3900 Betr.: V it o u š e k , Josef, General, born 30.5.1879 in Besednice, cath., resident Prague-Weinberge, Pisecká 2. V i t o u s e k was the last major and battalion commander in the Austro-Hungarian army on the Italian front. After the overthrow, he was taken over as Lieutenant Colonel to the General Staff of the Czech Army, where he first worked in the Operations Department of the Ministry of War (MNo); he soon became head of this department and promoted to colonel. Later, V. served alternately with the troops and in the War Ministry. He was then retiring at his own request before the Oktober-Eigns l938. Politically, V. did not emerge. His appointment was in line with the line of the MNO and the French military mission, which allegedly promoted him strongly. His behaviour towards the Germans was supposed to have been correct at all times. 8003A
