52 Ü b e r s e t z u n g . Law on the Renewal of the Czechoslovak Republic. 2. Red. Remembering the great past of the Czechoslovakian nation, bearing in mind the legacy of Thomas G. M a s a r y k, we want to ensure a free development for the Czecho-Slovak people in the spirit of democracy, freedom and social justice. We are therefore renewing the Czechoslovak state and proclaiming: I. Czechoslovakia is a free republic. II. At the head of the Czechozlovak Republic is a tripartite board of directors. III. The Executive Board issues regulations with legal force. By unanimous decree with legal power it can amend the constitution and establish new constitutional regulations. - The functions assigned to the President of the Republic or the Government under the Constitution of the Czechoslovak Republic or other provisions of law shall be transferred to the Executive Board for the period of its existence. The Board of Directors may appoint undersecretaries of state who will be at the head of the various ministries. IV, All laws and all other legislations which were valid in Czechoslovakia on 1 March 1939 shall retain the same, unless they are amended by the present law or by regulations adopted on the basis of it.
