112 Prague, 9 Oct. 1940. Betr.: Persecution against German-friendly Czechs from the Vlajka movement. Among the cases which the Minister of the Interior brought to the attention of the Secretary of State on the basis of the reports of the Bohemian State Authority about incidents with the Vlajka movement, a number of other incidents became known from the period before the beginning of September. Some of these are listed below as evidence of the various persecutions that are actually being carried out against Czechs who are German-friendly - mostly supporters of Vlajka - including cases that are now likely to have become known to the Minister of the Interior, as they have come to the attention of the local gendarmerie stations and district authorities. Economic boycott due to German friendliness: 1.) The innkeeper Franz S m e t a n a, local manager of the ČnST. in Dymokur/Bez. Podiebrad, had a good inn operation since 193l. After the invasion of the German Wehrmacht, which S m a t a a with raised arm greets and with which he entered into conversations, his business went back constantly. When he started working for ČNST. in April 194o, the boycott became increasingly intensified, so that today he has about 4o % lower turnover, which he can prove at any time through his books. 2
