- 2 - The struggle has entered a new phase, perhaps into the final stage. It has become more intense and concentric. The blows not only meet valuable support for faith and customs, which can be deprived of need, but are already touching the nature of the Church as a truth-seller and merciful woman. We pass over what we have already reported earlier. Since then, a many-fold disability, especially pastoral care, has been added. Professionally and economically, too, there is a great deal of pressure to stay away from the catholic divine service, even to quit the church. In this and other way the freedom of conscience is restricted in a way which is absolutely intolerable for the human being and the Christians created according to God's image. To what extent the raising of human rights goes, it can be seen from the fact that the sterilization was inflicted on the killing of the mentally ill. The pastoral care in the public hospitals is very difficult, the pastoral care of the prisoners and the Polish civilian workers is very impeded. The divine service can only start after lo clock after nocturnal aeronautical alarm. High ecclesial holidays have been transformed into working days, even as far as the réin church celebration is concerned, without any influence. Retreats and retreats are forbidden: clergymen who, in the exercise of their pastoral duty to comply with the iue divinum in matters of marriage, have been sent to concentration camps. Other clergymen have been expelled from their diocese. The construction of churches, especially in newly built towns or villages, is causing the greatest difficulties.
