From the point of view of the settlement, it occupies a clear special position. One must not, of course, look at the form of the Siedel. The fact that the Dlmüßer villages do not find forest hooves lies in the space in which fie was founded, not in the people alone. There was no forest to be cleared here, the Siedelland was fertile and developed directly to the spa, which however was familiar and used to the settlers coming from the south of Moravia. The expansion of the German-Turkish island extends into the 14th century. 1zo6 is given to the Dlmüßer Bürgerschaft by King Wenceslas a forest called Horka, here a village should be founded "Alu. It is not yet decided whether this is one of the still today German villages or not. If we look at the city of Dlmüßer Deutschtum, then from Nebo-tein, which also today forms the core of the peasantry in the People's Island, there is the oldest testimony for the Middle Bavarian tribal strike. It is the old Nebostein orphan's book, which, written by an unjointed hand, shows strong oral influences in the entries, especially from the years 1554-1595. As to be expected, this ancient dialect agrees with today's popular language, it is very Bavarian, as in the oldest Dlmüßer Stadtbuch Bavarian trains are far more prominent than in today' s urban language. The dialect of this strongly alienated village is also very Bavarian, but no longer as typical as the Neboteiner. This village is in today's upsurge of the tribality of the German island in a sense the core with the old Bavarian kind. Apart from Neretein, the dialect of the rest of the villages shows a greater flattening, traffic-linguistic coloration and balance, due to the proximity of the important city of Dlmüß since ancient times and later population-historical shifts. In the reduction form as well as in the pronunciation of the sounding medium-high German b, in the folk language of the whole Jnsel Bavarian forms are shown: for the former only I is valid and the sound b is spoken in every position as p. It was the Thirty Years' War that changed the Bavarian basic structure in most villages of the People's Island, because in most cases the old substance of the population has not survived beyond the Great War. What followed and filled the Lüken, did not come up again like the first Siedel layer from the southern Moravia, but it is close= lying that these people for the most part immigrated from the neighbouring German villages of the northern Moravian country. And here was and will be 6
