18a The Imperial Protector in Bohemia and Moravia Prague, July 4, 194 Nr. I l c - 5680 To the Prime Minister in P r a g Subject: Treatment of public servants in prison at the beginning of the war, after their release from prison Reference: My letter of 19.2.4l, I 1c - 5700 Annex: - In my letter referred to above, it was stated in principle that a special treatment under criminal law for those servants who were arrested on 1.9.l939: by imperial organs cannot be granted to the other public service personnel arrested for misdemeanour, since these persons are responsible for their arrest of the anti-rich attitude before the outbreak of war, so that their arrest was necessary as a preventive measure at the start of war. If such an officer, who was taken into preventive custody at the beginning of the war, returns from prison, I ask you to proceed as follows: 1.) Should, in exceptional cases, the removal of the service have been pronounced for specific reasons at the time of release, the suspension of the services must remain to be avoided. 2.) If the provisional follow-up with a reduction in salary at the time of release has already been made or already confirmed by the disciplinary commission, which will normally be the case, it may be cancelled without further inquiry by the date on which the staff member returns to take up his duties. I ask you to ensure that the service is reported immediately after the release. I reserve the right to make a different provision on a case-by-case basis, in particular in the sense that the suspension and salary reduction will continue to be maintained even after the detention period. However, I am exceptionally satisfied that such officials who have so far been released from prison have received remuneration from the day on which they returned to their duties after being released from custody 60984
