6a L 12 - Nationals of the case. Therefore, only those belonging to the divisions 3 or 4 of the German People's List are registered of the former Danzig nationals. The Gdańsk District Office of the German People's List, on the basis of the material made available to it by the President of the Police in Gdaínsk, keeps a register of those former Gdanin nationals who did not acquire German nationality. III (10) The people's Germans, who are entered in Division 1 or 2 of the German People's List, will soon become provisional citizens of the Reich. (11) The acquisition of German nationality is governed by the decree of 4 March 194l as follows: (a) The former Polish nationals who meet the conditions for admission to the German People's List of Abbreviations 1 or 2 have acquired German nationality with effect from 26 October 1939. The acquisition does not take effect until the date of entry into the German People's List or the delivery of a certificate on this subject, but has already occurred upon fulfilment of the conditions for admission into the aforementioned departments of the German Folk List. As far as these people's Germans are not in possession of a nationality certificate or a home certificate, however, they can only prove their German nationality if they have obtained an identification document for their entry in the German People's List. (b) The former Gdańsk nationals have acquired the German nationality in principle with effect from 1 September 1939.
