65a - 10 - At the same time, I note with satisfaction that thanks to the initiative of the Secretary of State, the renaming and Germanization of the Prague square, street and street names has been carried out. This concludes a work which, from my side, was already launched in April of the year l939 and was pushed forward to proposals for the renaming and Germanization of Prague I and II to the office of the Reich Protector by the end of August and was then carried out by this office itself for the whole of Prague. As a representative of self-government, I would like to stress the fact that I have not only had a platonic interest in the progress of the work carried out by a commission of experts led by Mr Zankl, but also gave a wealth of practical proposals and suggestions. If a visible transformation has taken place in Prague, it has been my endeavour to further refine a circle during the last month about the need for a new attitude towards Prague and its history from my point of view. The NS-Teachers' Association has fortunately formed a working community called "Das deutsche Prag", in which I was able to speak before a very numerous audience about research tasks in the German Prague. The plans I developed there are supposed to be a programme for all the work we Germans have to do for and around Prague. It is precisely that I have been able to appoint lecturer Schreiber for the Prague City Archives that I can guarantee that this important research centre will now also lead the research into the history of Prague in the German sense. There has been no lack of propaganda work in the german sense for Prague. On this occasion, I am sure that I would like to draw your attention to the tremendous work that we have done in the field of tourism advertising and advertising in Prague at all. Mr Skowronek, who is responsible for supervising these activities, has made a real effort to re-train the guides of Prague, to look after the members of the Wehrmacht and other groups seeking in large numbers of Prague and to contact all those who have an interest in Prague. Skowronek just returned from a trip to Frankfurt and Munich, where he studied the facilities of tourism. As a result, I can see that we are firmly following the Munich example 65152
