78 - 2 - in many areas of public life and the economy. Inevitably, these measures lead to a certain unrest in the official bodies of the Protectorate. However, a further postponement of the start of the reduction of civil servants was not to be answered by the heavy burden on the budget of the Protectorate on the salaries of redundant officials and employees (nearly 50% of expenditure). The insufficient fat supply creates more and more concern in the German families and the Czech population of the Protectorate. It is also necessary to reduce the butter allocation for the normal consumer even further for the new supply section starting on January 20, 1941. 35 g butter is only followed every other week. According to reliable communications from the military and industrial side, as a result of this state, there is a noticeable drop in performance in the arms industry. Care must be taken to ensure that the fat ration in the protectorate is brought as quickly as possible to the same level as in the surrounding Reichsgebiet. Negotiations with the Reich's Ministry of Food have not been successful so far, and efforts are being vigorously pursued. All measures have been taken to ensure that the fat produced in the Protectorate itself is fully recorded. The fight against fraud, in which prices and income conditions are hardly involved because of the labour force, continues to be given special attention. A personal appeal to the responsible ministers of the department has again pointed out the seriousness of the food situation and the need for drastic measures.
