Copy. 16 The President of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia Prague, on January 1, 1941. Your Excellency, Your High Honored Lord Imperial Protector, you have had the kindness to explain to me during my visit today that your decree of the 3o. De- cember l940 about the retirement of the protectorate staff has a general character and by no means particularly concerns the whole group of public protectorate officers, who were at that time members of the Czechoslovak legions. For this insurance I am very grateful to your Excellency. From your implementing decree of 9 January 194l, No. I l c - 5635, however, I see that point 1 of the directive for retirement contains the explicit provision that all former legionaries over 45 years old should be retired, or that their service relationship should be terminated, except in very special cases. With regard to the express notification of Your Excellency that the regulation of 3o. December 194o not to be a special measure against the former legionaries, I am convinced that it will be possible to formulate the said implementing regulation accordingly and in particular to either omit or amend the cited point l in an appropriate way.
