The Head of the Special Department of Cultural Policy Prague, 30 June 1943. W/M 9/0r1 I./ Note. Betr.: Lecture at the monthly appeal of the Gauleitung Oberdonau on 16.6.43 in Linz. At the invitation of the Gauleiter Eigruber I had to give a lecture on the political development in the Protectorate at the Monthly Appeal of thegauleitungen in Linz on 16.06.43 in front of about 150 Gauamt leaders, organization leaders, etc. The lecture was initiated by Gauleiter Eigruber, among other things, with the knowledge that an important importance should be attached to informing the leading figures of Gaues Oberdonau' about the Reich policy pursued in the Protectorate, not only because Gau Oberdonaud, partyly with the county of Budweis, extends into the Protectorates. The Gauleiter himself could not be present during the lecture, but had received me for a short visit in the morning. When asked whether he wished to take account of particular aspects of my presentation, he asked me to make it quite clear to the audience that a uniform political leadership of the Protectorate is required to deal with the Czech question and that until further notice a division of the protectorate between the neighbouring Gaue is not possible. There are always false hopes or wishes for intervention against which such clarification is sought. Furthermore, it is very necessary to point out the particular circumstances under which the Protectorate was created by the leader with the President Hacha, and to stress that the Czechs should not be equated with the Poles. In the Budweiser Kreis everything is in order, it is probably very favorable that he had used a circuit leader, who did not come from the island German. According to my lecture - 2 - V1 A-37/43
