Above all, the wheat harvest per head is considerably greater in the Protectorate than in Germany. There are no major differences in the number of carto Falls, but the harvest of sugar beet in the Protectorate is almost three times as large as in Germany. The possibilities for self-sufficiency in vegetable foods are therefore considerably more favourable in the Protectorate than in the Reich, so that the need for subsidies - per head of the population is expected - is considerably lower in the protectorate than that of the Old Kingdom.
