38 - 4 - that Moravia has a more favourable stone industry for road construction purposes with well developed stone industry. In the whole protectorate area, the following shortcomings are noticeable in protectorate roads: narrow, confusing, winding city passes, poor curve expansion, i.e. small radii, no overcrowdings, very numerous cuppings and tubs, lack of sightings in curvatures. This gives rise to a general low speed of travel. As traffic obstacles in Bohemia, the large number of rail crossings similar to that of rails is noticeable. (b) District roads: water-bound gravel covers on the district roads, which are to a small extent visible with surface treatment. Only about 8 - 10 % have medium-heavy roads. The average road width is 4 - 5 m at 7 m crown width. The state of entertainment is generally mediocre, in Moravia partly even good, in Bohemia partly very bad. The deficiencies on the district roads are the same as on the protectorate roads, with still poor lines added. IV. Previous expansion measures: a) Road construction programme 1939 : Extension of the West-East connection Proßnitz - Dub - Prerau - Leipnik - Moravian Weißkirchen - Hustopetsch - Wal.Meseritsch - Vsetin -.Austi - Groß-Karlowitz - Reichs Grenze/Slovakia (against Makov - Cadca) to a total length of 73 km, whereby were led, with a cost of approx.
