49 * 2 The same applies to the technical-academic and mining career, for which the Czech people are able to provide good skilled workers; also, the protectorate area will be too narrow for the really powerful Czech forces and cause a withdrawal of the best. The study of medicine for Czechs seems essentially politically harmless and also useful for reasons of health policy. The question of studying theology is not discussed here and is not decisively affected by the closure of Czech universities, since there are still enough seminaries available here. In the end, only the question of a philological studies_(in the Protectorate under "philosophical" faculty continuously) seems difficult. Here, in particular in view of the German lack of strength, the interest exists in continuing to see the school teaching subjects represented by Czechs. Of course, the current abundance of Czech higher schools must be severely reduced by a personal erosion tactics on the German side. Against a study of the natural sciences subjects by Czechs there are just as little doubts as against that of the linguistic philology. The main problem, however, remains the study of history; in itself, a German rating tends to deny Czechs an interpretation of history before Czechs. However, it is not possible to fill all of the history teachers' positions in Czech schools with Germans by force. On the other hand, the re-education of Czech historical consciousness and the overcoming of the teachings of Palacky and his epigones alone will be able to bring about a far-reaching, rich and friendly transformation of Czech thinking. In itself, it would also be necessary to take appropriate precautions (obligatory study of Czech history by particularly specific, professional and political experts).
