43 The Wehrmacht authorised Prague, 24 February 1940. go to the Reichsprotektor in Bohemia u.Mähren Nr. 136/40. Ia_ Office of the State Secretary Secretly at the Reichspeotektor in Bohemia and mähren. Eing.: 29.FEB.1940 Tgb. Nr.: 418 Instructions no.5 W 1.) Listening to foreign radio stations. The OKW WNV/Abw. III/W.Pr. (IIc) has under No.lO5O/40. d. /71349. from 26.1.l940 issued the following order: "At the beginning of the war the government of the Reich prohibited the interception of foreign radio stations by the "Regulation on extraordinary broadcasting measures" of 1.9.1939 and placed them under severe punishment. High prison sentences had to be imposed on obliging people. Of all Wehrmacht members, strict self-discipline must be imposed on this, as in all other fields. From various processes it can be seen that the reference decree by Wehrmascht members in and out of service is often negligently exceeded. On the other hand, it is again stated that the prohibition of listening to third-party radio stations necessarily applies to all Wehrmacht nationals, unless they are expressly responsible for listening to them by their competent authorities in accordance with the order for reference. The Wehrmacht parts are asked to pay attention to the implementation of the above-mentioned decree and the additional decree issued to it and to ensure their strict implementation by frequent sampling of all departments and troop parts. The force must also be constantly taught about the harmfulness of such foreign broadcasts, with the emphasis less on threats with punishment, but rather on awakening moral defense. 2=
