- 4 - 12 official political attitude of Bebel and Liebknecht, which abstained from the vote in the Reichstag vote of 19 July 1870 on the war credit requirement. After their own omissions they did not vote against this loan guarantee, because the French worker could have seen in such a manner a direct support of Bonapartism. - The German and French workers had taken an official stand against the war; according to the Marxists, Bismarck and Bonaparte were equally responsible for the war. Marx and Engels stressed that the war, as long as it had a defensive character from the German side, had to be supported by the workers themselves, because they hoped, in particular, until the Battle of Sedan, that France would defeat, that within the French working class, the petty-bourgeois disfiguration of socialism (proudhonism) would finally disappear and Marxism would become the ideology of the working class not only in Germany but also in France. If, during the war, the Parisian workers had limited themselves to demanding the continuation of the struggle, they went to the open civil war during the capitulation of the capital, carried out the armament of the proletariat and proclaimed on 28 March the "Paris Commune", which was chosen on 26 March, followed by a reign of 72 days. After Marx, this revolution of the Paris Commune was the first revolution of a proletariat, the real People's Revolution, with the establishment of the Commune as synonymous with the proclamation of the dictatorship of the proletariat, which pushes the Parliament aside and only removes the initiative of the people.
