22-4 bad German division and had to be swept by the pupils. Since it was precisely the teachership — she had the German youth in her hand — that was politically silenced and sharply accused by the Greek rulers, our teaching staff worked out of school in the 20 years of the Czech period strongly scientifically, artistically and ethnographically, but also in the Volkischen associations, the Federation of Germans, the Cultural Association, the Turnverband and the Sängerbund. Our gymnasts, however, represented the elite troops of the Volkischer Turnerjugend. Teachers and students have sung their share of the liberation and trained themselves. October 4, 1938, the city of Karlovy Vary brought to the celebrated arrival of the leader the desire and the return to the Reich. Freudig and enthusiastically, our school community participated in all the big rallies that followed now. In December 1938, teachers and pupils made their first appeal with a flag-histung in the schoolyard. It was not easy to involve unfereres Schulbetriebs in the administration of the empire. At first, all perfonal files were missing, which lay at the state school council in Prague. Innumerable questionnaires had to be filled out by the teachers, Driginal documents had to have been produced in order to provide the government with the documents for proper administration. The teaching constitution was changed from the ground up. English was already taught in the first grade, but we had no textbooks for the little ones. German and especially history were given completely changed and larger tasks. The most important help for teachers and pupils was also missing: the school book. The teaching method of the empire also differed significantly from the previous one. However, with the good will of the teachers and the insight of the school authority, the impossible appearance was defeated in a short time. With the school year 1940/41, the conversion of our Realgymnasium into the richly unified Dberschule was completed. Again, we are at war for the existence and freedom of the people and the kingdom. The highest entrance of teachers and pupils is duly appreciated elsewhere. Ünsere Schulgemeinde looks with full confidence to the future, which the leader and the multi-power of our people secure. After the happy giege, the Dherfschule für Jungen in Karlovy Vary will continue its good tradition with renewed will to act: to provide the people and their leadership with a physical, mental and character-oriented young generation, to provide science with new champions. The scarcity of the space available does not allow all teachers, auxiliary and auxiliary teachers who worked at the institution during the fifty years of school, to be named. It should be noted that the total number of directors 4, that of the internal teachers of the various sections 167, that of auxiliary and assistant teachers 65, is the sum total of 226 teachers. The institution was headed by: Dir. Franz Grund from 1892 to 1924, Dir. Dr. Viktor Hevler from 1926 to 1 September 1937/38, Dir, Dr. Rudolf Frieb from 1938 to May 1939, Oberstudiendirektor Dr. Karl Jäger since 1 September 1939. 7
