Although the association had provided support for 41,244.60 peace crowns over the years until the end of World War II, or still had a fortune of 38,589.45 K. To help the wicked Douchtume in his struggle, the association gave up all his fortune and drew 56,00o K war loan. The break-up of the Austrian state was followed by the financial one of the association, since the Czech state did not honour the war loan. Prof. Dr. Karl L u d w i g , the first and long-standing cashier of the U.V., desperately closed his cash report with the words: "The whole share capital of securities became worthless as a result of repeated remarks with war loan! ".- At that time the current head of the School Promotion Association came to the institution and was called as a former student of Dr. Karl Ludwig to the helper. We stood before nothing and the need was great. Then Prof. Josef B e c k e r jumped in as a municipal representative with urban help, so that we got over the first time. A fresh start was made and the success did not fail. In association with the girls' reform gymnasium, to which part of the income was spent, the academies brought large revenues, so that the increased expenditures could be contested in the system time. In addition, we support the orphanage in Schlackenwerth with 2000 Ktsch, which in Rodisfort with 500 Ktsch., the Blindenschule in Leitmeritz and others; it has been saved more recently for times of even greater need. On the occasion of the death of the deserving cassier Prof. Dr. Karl Ludwig, a collection was carried out with his former students and friends, which resulted in 740o Kch. Interest rates were to be distributed every year on 13 March. However, external conditions were again hampering: the central bank of German savings banks closed its counters, so that a considerable part of the assets invested there froze. When the Reich took power, the activities of the Association were temporarily suspended, but this was released itself under an amended name after a detailed review and payment of a property tax to the Standstill Commissioner, which amounted to 91.545.26 Ktsch. = 10.985.43 RM. The revenue in the last four years has decreased, as the donations were cancelled and only the membership fees are considered. However, in the past two years the Gau intervened helpingly by financing the purchase of textbooks and granting special support by the Gauverband in Reichenberg. For this, the association must pay 40% of its membership to the Gauverband every year. We hope that after the end of Ges war, more times will come for our association. During its 50-year existence, the club has spent 203.343,21 K = 24,401,18 RM on support in addition to the great achievements in natura. Much work and concern was caused by the unification of the authorities, but it also brought gratitude and, above all, the awareness of having helped many young people on their way to life.
