Copy. i ATSTTT Gauleitung Sudetenland Our sign: A/GE/1035 Prague, May 2, 1941. To the State Secretary SS-Obergruppenführer K.H. Frank Prague. Dear State Secretary! The question of the Legionnaire monument or tomb of the unknown soldier at the Old Town Ring has been discussed many times and has not been brought to a satisfactory solution. If I turn to you today, Mr Secretary of State, not only on the basis of my party office, but as a World War II participant, and I ask you to reconsider the question of the Legionnaire's character, so that the possibility is created of eradicating this monument once and for all. I have looked at this matter once, how this is actually handled and had to find out that young mountain farmers passed by, first hesitantly and then, when they saw that others also greeted this monument, they have also done their honour witnessing. It is involuntary to think whether one of the fathers of these welcoming young soldiers has fallen by the betrayal of a legionnaire in World War II. This is intolerable and you, Mr. Secretary of State, have already carried out much balancing through your work and I would ask you to remove this monument of the verra- tion. Igh believe that even the Wehrmacht can only welcome this, since no one will demand that a monument be given the honorable witness, which exalts the Czech legionnaire, since many sacrifices were made by the betrayal of the Czech Legionnaires during the World War. Heil Hitler ! ( L. S. ) gez.: Signature Fritz Amreich.
