5a -4- b) Polish police: Losses: 1 policeman shot in the fight against criminals. 1 policeman died from illness. Accidents and the sick: not reported. c) Ukrainian police: no reports available. 2.) Reichsgau Gdańsk/West Prussia: In addition to the general police service, the forces of the police were used to secure railway lines, to search for escaped workers and to carry out evacuations and resettlements. The forces freed with the abolition of the former police border between the Reichsgauen Gdańsk-West Prussia and Wartheland were transferred to Tilsit and Bialystok in strength of 7 gendarmes and 58 gendarme reserves and made available for the east use. For the same use the operating company Adlershorst was surrendered after 64801 Biaystok. During the reporting period, 345 Polish families with 152l persons were relocated from the districts of Bromberg, Wirsitz, Dirschau, Pr.Stargard, Gotenhafen, Strasbourg and Gdansk-Stadt. The Poles were first transferred to the Polish camps in Thorn and Putzig. In the same period, some Polish pamilies were resettled within the counties of Strasbourg and Leipe. On the night of 14th/15th September 1994l, on the Thorn-Bromberg route, 480 Russian prisoners of war escaped from a moving transport train. In the joint operation between the Wehrmacht and the police, more than half of the refugees were taken very soon.
