In the course of the persecution of criminals and in attempts to escape, in several cases, Pol, officials were made use of the gun, with some persons killed or injured. An arrest operation against Polish anti-state elements resulted in a firefight in which an official of the Gestapo was injured. Because of the most diverse criminal acts and because of illegal departure of the workplaces, a considerable number of persons were arrested and transferred to the competent authorities again in this report. Of the crimes that have occurred, the following particularly prominent cases are mentioned: On the night of the 5th of January 1940, the Polish master worker Prus was shot dead in Roczny, who placed 3 thieves in his estate in Roccny, Krs. Bielitz. On the 6th of May 1940, three more armed criminals invaded the rectory in Polanka-Wielka, Krs. Biesitz. The Polish crockery leader Witkowski was shot. On 23.11.1940, around 2030 clock, 4 armed and masked men broke into Graboein at a Polish butcher, tied up the family members with wire and searched the apartment. About 600,-- RM cash and clothing pieces were stolen. The perpetrators escaped unrecognized. On 25.ll.1940 a long-awaited criminal was arrested by Gend.-Posten Lodygowitz. In an attempt to escape at the ceremony he was injured. On 27.11.1940, around 2015 clock, 3 - 4 masked bandits armed with pistols invaded the shop of a polin in Schumenschütz. On the connexion of a man they cursed, nothing was stolen. On 27.11.1940, around 2050 clock, probably the same bandits penetrated into a Polish grocery store in Niemce.
