7 1I Foreign trade in 1942. In the trade balance of 1942, the export side outweighs the import side even more than in the year 194l. In 1940 the composition of the trade balance was reversed, this consideration illustrates the following data /in Mill.K/: Year 1942: Year 1941: Year 1940: Imports 2,632.9 3,530 4,744 Exports 3,933.1 .248 4,211 Turnover 6.566.- 7,778 8,955 Balance + 1,300.- + 718 533 As can be seen, the turnover of the trading balance l942 was by 1,212 million K smaller, i.e. Both sides of the trade balance in 19942 were smaller than in recent years, i.e. the value of imports by 25.4% and exports by 7.4%. A different picture is given by the quantitative analysis of the balance of trade in 1942. Turnover next to weight is also smaller than in the year 194l, but this fact is only related to the smaller export side, whereas the import volume was higher, as shown by the following composition: in Mill.T. Year 1942: Year 194l: Difference compared with 1941: Imports 1.86 1.77 + 5% Exports 081 1.32 -39.2% Turnover 2.69 3.09 -13.6% This development is explained by the shift on the import side of the trade balance in 19942 to the import of bulk goods especially of raw materials and with the export of full-fledged finished goods.
