- 6 - In the latter case, of course, the presence of coal or wood wealth in certain areas also affects prices. the fairly high values found for the municipalities of the western Sudetengau compared to Aussig were due to the fact that in Ausstig a relatively low price of brown coal and an even lower price of electricity was found, whereas, for example, in Moravian-Schönberg, which was used as a basis for the communities in the eastern part of the Sudetetengau, a fairly high price of coal was determined and therefore the values for the eastern portion of the Gaue Sudettenland contained in Table 1 were relatively low. 2. Price comparison Sudetenland-Altreich a. The food prices. The comparison of the food prices in the Sudetetenland and in the Altreich as it is carried out in the tables 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 shows that food prices were consistently lower in the sudetenGerman regions at the time of the survey than in the Old Reich or in the adjacent Gauen der Ostmark. This is the result of Table 2, where prices with those in some of the neighbouring municipalities of the Altreichs or of the Gau in question are calculated. The average price level in a number of places located in a border belt around the Sudetenland was chosen for all municipalities of the Sudotenland as a uniform comparative basis. Special regularities arose above all from the oversights 5.6 and 7, the results of which are also presented in the map annex. Here especially the expensive area around Reichenberg stands out. From there the food prices to the east and to the west as well as to the south show a tendency falling, so that the lowest price level in the southern part of the Sudetenland, i.e. This phenomenon is likely to be mainly related to the economic structure of the various regions. The most expensive district, i.e. the municipalities around Reichenberg, is purely industrial area, while the most cheap for food communities lie in the predominantly agricultural areas of the eastern part of the Gaues Sudeten-land and in the areas coming to the Gauen Bayerische Ostmark, Ober- und Nieder- donau.
