4 - II. Results 1. Prices within the Sudetenland a. Food prices The results of the survey give a clear picture of the price structures in the Sudotenland in January l939 and can easily be seen in different price ranges. This can be seen from the analysis of the individual food products. the most common price for both beef (beef) and leg meat (peel) and veal (breast) in the eastern part of the Gaues Sudetenland RM 1.44 per kg, in the western part RM 1.68. In the parts of the Sudetenland, which were assigned to the Gauen Oberdonau, Niederdonau and Bayerische Ostmark, the price was in part even lower than in the eastern part of the Sudetengau. The same is true of the prices for Selchfleisch, Schweineschnalz, Teebuter and a number of other food products. Here, too, the highest price for the western Sudetengau has been found among the most frequent prices for the individual Gaue. When considering the food prices in the individual municipalities, some significant price differences were found within the Gaue, but these differences are probably mostly due to the fact that the one company was old Czech goods sold by the trader at the earlier price converted into Reichsmark, while in the other business new goods were already offered from the Old Kingdom. In the latter case, prices were often higher, but, for example, the reverse could be observed in the case of jam, i.e. the price of the richly priced jam, which is sometimes already imported from the Old Kingdom, was generally much lower than the price for Czech jam. The price differences resulting from the differences in the sources of supply were in part very significant. For example, price differences of more than 100% were found for oatmeal and podmeal 1). However, since both types of goods were on the market at the time of the survey, the results also had to take into account the prices for both. T) For packeted oatmeal, the highest price determined was 1.84 RM per kg, the lowest at O.66 RM. For lentils, the most determined price was Ö.85 RM, and the lowest was O.24 RM each kg.
