The structure and designation of the management offices is also closely based on the model of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. Also in the case of the protectorate railways, a distinction is made between offices which have to be set up in all railway directions and those which can be established if there is a factual need for them. This possibility has been made use of to a considerable extent, because the BMB still has to carry out a large number of operations in the management department, which are the responsibility of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. As a result, some offices have such high headcounts that, without division into business groups, the supervision of proper business management appeared to be called into question. 3.) The restructuring of the business organization, which began with the introduction of the departmental system in the railway regulations, was extended on 1.5.1942 to the railway administration of the Ministry of Transport (since 16.1.1942 "Ministry of Transport and Technology") where the former departments and sections were replaced by speakers and departments.
